A free work in progress reading of Off The Grid, a new one-woman play by Citylights resident Brooke Berman, at LIC Bar, followed by snacks and a panel.
The one-woman play is about Rachel, a woman in midlife who looks back on her time in a New Age cult, a journey that began in light and ended in profound grief. Brooke Berman is a playwright and memoirist who lives at Citylights at Queens Landing.
Tonight is a work in progress showing. Berman wrote the piece for actor Alysia Reiner, and Lisa Peterson directs. A panel follows with New York Times writer Jesse McKinley and New School professor and author Dr. Natalia Petrzela, with snacks after the reading.
Admission is free. Seating is limited, so Berman suggests coming early. The project is supported in part by the Queens Council on the Arts and received a Queens Arts Fund New Work grant.
Where: LIC Bar, 45-58 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11101. Thursday, October 22 at 7 PM; end time not posted.
