Terms of Use

These terms apply to longislandcity.info, LIC Community (longislandcity.info/community) and the QueensWest.com archive (queenswest.com), all run by Jason Atwood ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

LIC Community

• You need an account to post. Keep your password safe; you are responsible for activity on your account.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• Follow the community guidelines: be civil, stay on topic, no harassment, hate, spam or illegal content, and don’t post other people’s private information.
• Moderators may edit, hide, move or remove posts, and suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the guidelines. New accounts and first posts may be reviewed before they appear.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to store, display, reproduce and distribute it on the site and in its emails and feeds, as needed to run the site. You can delete your own posts; copies may remain for a while in backups and where others have quoted you. Only post material you have the right to share, including photos.

The archive

The QueensWest.com archive is a historical record of the website as it was from 1998 to 2013, rebuilt from our own files and from the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. It is read-only. Old forum posts appear with the usernames they were posted under. Old articles, listings and prices are historical and may be out of date or wrong today; press items are cited with links to the original publishers.

Corrections and takedowns

If something on the site is wrong, is yours and was used without permission, or names you and you want it removed or anonymized (including your own old QueensWest.com forum posts or username), email contact@longislandcity.info with:

• the link (URL) to the page, and the exact text or image you mean;
• what is wrong, or why it should be removed, and your connection to it (for example, you are the person named, the author, or the copyright owner or their agent);
• the correction, if you are asking for one; and
• how we can reach you.

We aim to acknowledge requests within a few days. While we look into a request, we may hide the material. We will tell you what we decided. For copyright complaints, please also include a description of the work you own and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized.

Our content

Unless stated otherwise, the site’s own text, design and logos belong to us or are used with permission. You may quote and link to the site with attribution. Please ask before reusing photos or larger portions of text.

Links and third-party services

The site links to other websites that we don’t control. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Neighborhood information can change quickly; check important details (events, hours, transit) with the original source. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site, and nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. We may change or stop any part of the site. You can stop using the site and ask us to delete your account at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
