Hello, LIC. This is the very first weekly LIC newsletter, so thanks for signing up. This week the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy has a free fall bird walk on Saturday and wants to hear what you want in the parks next year, Halloween weekend is filling up fast, and three new places opened around town. Here is your week in Long Island City.

Tip of the week

Cheering at the Marathon on Sunday, November 1? The race crosses the Pulaski Bridge into LIC at the halfway point. The bridge itself is closed to spectators, so the Queens side is the spot, and expect street closures along the course. Read our Marathon guide.

Guide spotlight

A Guide to Halloween in Long Island City (October 2026): costume parades, pumpkin carving, trunk or treat and a car-free Vernon Boulevard, all in one place.

That's the week. Tell us what we missed, and come say hello on the LIC Community forum.
