Throwback Thursday: the QueensWest.com Pub Crawlathon, November 2006. Twenty years ago this week, QueensWest.com announced the Pub Crawlathon, billed as the small race the night before the big race (the Marathon). The fall crawl kicked off on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at 6:30 PM with five bar stops along Jackson Ave and Vernon Blvd. One of them, LIC Bar, is still at 45-58 Vernon Blvd. Read the original post in the QueensWest.com archive.
Guide spotlight
Best Cocktails in LIC (October 2026). Cocktail programs you can verify, from Dutch Kills and Rewind near Court Square to Blend on the Water and Sweetleaf Center Blvd by the water. It is not a ranked list, every place links to its directory listing, and Bar Enzo on 43rd Avenue is one of the newer additions. More on the launch.
Tip of the week
Last call for the Long Island City Community Garden. The garden at 5-30 49th Ave. is open to the public 20 hours a week from April 1 to October 31, as posted at the gate, so this weekend is the last chance this season to look inside. More on the garden.
That is the week. Tell us what we missed, and come say hello on the LIC Community forum.
